Recollections (2016)
Memories can be transient or ephemeral; frequently achieving a dream like status. Sensory cues can send us catapulting into a past time or fuel speculations about a bygone era. However, memories can also be persistent and durable; both tangible and intangible as well as transient and enduring. Memories oscillate between daydreams and fact. We must negotiate these dichotomies to determine our realities. In an effort to rationalize and justify our existence, humans are attracted to places that are immersed in anachronism or objects that display antiquity. Construction of memory and history is a complex process which I will not claim to fully understand or articulate. Through the juxtapositions of geologic objects, Recollections is a contemplation on both the durability and instability of memory.
